Monsieur Fabrice Pellegrin has done it again!

During 2014, when the Diptyque collection called 34 launched, it was a refection of the brand’s founders Christiane Gautrot, Desmond Knox-Leet and Yves Couselant’s fist shop located on #34 boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris. Diptyque strived to mimic the scent and feel of that store, with its display of textile prints (which where the brands original focus).

Today, 2015, the 34 collection is expanding with new fragrances! Behind the creations is once again legendary nose Monsieur Fabrice Pellegrin whom I wrote about regarding the Oud Palao Middle East launch. Pellegrin is well known in his field and the father of a number of perfumes for different high end Houses.

The star in the new collection might be the Essences Insensées eau de parfum. Although the history behind this scent of jasmine, going back to Pellegrin’s grandmother is divine,  I will just skip that part all along (I’m not overly fond of jasmine on my skin) and go straight to the amazing candles!

The first one, called La Redouté (feard) comes in a monochrome cream and black ceramic holder. Very unique for Diptyque who mostly uses glass jars for their bespoke candles, the 34 collection is standing out from the crowd. It is described as a black pepper scent, very masculine to my taste and a perfect gift for any man alive. I think this candle looks incredibly good in a nice bathroom next to your SPA collection!

Today, the new friend in the collection is La Prouveresse. Named after that particular country lane which Mr. Yves Couslant took whenever he stayed in his country house in Grasse, it resembles the scents along that lane with fig and cypress trees, aromatic herbs and the rustic notes of the southern outdoors. Pellegrin has captured the memory in his own way and created my favourite for the entire collection! Both candles, 220g each, are presented inside these hand crafted ceramic pots, the latter one comes in a cream and bluish-green version, it is well worth mentioning that each pot takes three days to finish – by hand….

In UAE, you’ll find the collection in Diptyque Stores, in Bloomingdale’s and at Harvey Nichols! ♥
