Blowout & Go! The Wedding Edit

During the days before christmas, and as already communicated on Instagram (@thatluxuriousfeeling) we had the pleasure of attending a wedding! It’s kind of a milestone don’t you think, when your expat live have given you such friendships that you are no longer just acquaintances. You get to be invited to the big day!

In order to maintain the privacy of our beloved wedding couple there won’t be any pictures of the ceremony or dinner, but I thought I would share with you some of my own preparations and of course, in the next article to come: the makeup!

Let’s start with Blowout & Go™ shall we. This fabulous service that I’ve already covered some here, was my first choice! Already upon receiving our wedding invitation, I immediately went on their website to book and appointment. Maybe silly of me, I’ve come to understand that you don’t need to be weeks in advance, but why jinks it!?

My enquiries were pretty simple: I opted for the Old Hollywood style of blowout, I wanted to have a loose but magnificent hairdo that would hold for the day ceremony and all the way into the nigh’s reception and dinner. My hair is mid-breast length and was coloured a week before the event.

The service gives you the choice of booking just a hair stylist or a MUA as well, but I can do my own makeup in my sleep, so I decided to focus entirely on the hair. You make the reservation, leave all the location and contact details and get a very clear confirmation back, no misunderstandings or lack of communication. I felt very secure.

On the day of the wedding, the stylist was booked for 8:30am. This is Dubai and one can almost always assure that people will get stuck in traffic or at the gate security.

Precisely 8:25am my doorbell rang! For a time-conservative like myself, this was high score.

In came one of the companies Senior Hair Stylists, no name here because I wish to keep him for myself hahaha. So professional, shook hands with my husband and then started to set up his portable station. OMG, that case had everything. I could see products by Redken 5th Avenue and Schwarzkopf Oasis to just name a few. I had prepared my hair by washing it and keeping it wet. That’s all you need to do.

It took Mr.X about two minutes to see how freshly coloured my hair was and that some of the lengths would be too short, to achieve an Old Hollywood look. No need for panic, we discussed how to best work my hair; or he did, I just smiled and nodded, and then got to work.

A professional blow-dry,  some mousse and products and a magic wand (curler) and about 50minutes later I didn’t even recognise my hair. In the most positive way.

It looked beautiful. expensive and lush. Shiny and with moviestar-waves all over. I felt so pretty even without makeup on. Poor guy needed to see my non-makeup-early-morning face…

I will never be able to go back now. Whenever there’s an event coming, I need to get myself a blowout! When the hair is perfect I tend to feel stunning regardless of what close I wear or the fact that I’m not one of these exceptional pretty creatures.

Mr. X kept up a light and interesting conversation during the process; made me feel secured and pampered. He quite obviously was very experienced in his profession and could read my hair and face shape with ease. I enjoyed his personality and the quiet way he addressed the situation of being in someone else’s home. It felt luxurious and special.

If you live in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or London, this is what you shall do! I’m not kidding around. I can’t wait for my next session ♥
