Weekend vibes with SUQQU

I continue my SUQQU summer journey and it is all about that luxurious feeling. Today, let’s move over to the lip products launched for the limited edition Summer’16 collection.

There are two different products, lipsticks (which will be featured in another post) and then these babies, the new Colour Balm Crayon’s. I love collections that focuses on comforting and interesting lip products rather than sticky lip glosses. I’m not a fan*, you all know that, so seeing a new launch with a full set up of lip products that I actually want to wear it a novelty.

*Burberry lip glosses excluded as they are marvelous.

Upon looking at the collection as a whole, it is easy to see that it’s divided into two groups or colours: pink and orange.

As these two families are my favourites, it has been such a wonderful time exploring the products and they look so incredibly good on. When I saw that SUQQU was about to launch a twist-up lip balm I got very excited. I love twist-ups and wear sheer coloured balms on a daily basis, either alone or on top of a lip pen.

It’s quite brave of SUQQU to only release two shades! If this would have been, let’s say Dior, you would have seen a range of 17 shades just for the sake of it. I personally love the minimalistic approach; make two and do it right! These two shades are so vivid in the bullet but so sheer and pretty on the lips that they will most definitely suit all faces and ages.

The inspiration for the collection comes from Kasaneiro – playful Japanese colour combinations from the past. I’ve said it before: I think this might be the most colourful and bold SUQQU collection I’ve ever seen. Orange, turquoise, fuchsia, golds, greens and lime! All at once but with an elegant twist.

The first one I opened to play with was the EX-01 Suzubeni – a deep fuchsia shade with warm undertones to it. On me, it turns berry-stained as I have some rosy pigments to my lips. The simple silver lining on the packaging let’s you know that it belongs to the pink family with the unique silvery touch. I goes perfectly together with the pink and brown eyes and cheek palette previously reviewed here.

I usually don’t like to play favourites, but I really like this shade and have worn it to so many different eye-makeups over. It just freshens up the whole look and keeps my lips looking plumped and well hydrated. It’s perfect for daytime and meetings.

The second shade EX-02 Tsuyasango looks vivid and bright orange in the bullet but applies more like a sheer peachy balm, almost coral in shade. As both of these balms are so lightweight and hydrating, the colour payoff is very modest (in the most positive way) and I think that for those who are not comfortable wearing a dense lipstick but still want a luxurious product these are excellent choices. The last very long on my lips even after drinking and eating which is always a plus!

This baby obviously belongs to the Orange family and holds a gold lining which matches a stunning eyes and cheek palette that is up next! If you’ve felt that the more brighter palettes have been too bold for you, this will be the one you are going to fall for…

I have worn the peachy lip balm to my lovely eyeshadow quad featuring oranges and browns as they go beautifully together. Take a look at that quad right here!

The SUQQU-UK summer collection is available in Selfridges, Harrods and Fenwick Bond Street and for those of us who (unfortunately) don’t live in London it’s comforting to know that Selfridges.com do carry the collection and ships worldwide. I’m just saying!

My wish, as I do love these twist-up balms, is that SUQQU decide to make it a collectors item and releases two new shades for the next collections! It would be so cool to, within 1,5 year have a full range of shades, all limited editions ♥
